One and Only Augmented Reality Mural in Loveland!
Murals are public art, meant to engage and bring a community
together through art that can be enjoyed by all. The new mural
project is complete on the Lincoln Gallery building in Loveland,
Colorado. Thompson Valley Art League (TVAL) and the Loveland
Visual Arts Commission (VAC) worked together for months on
the process of applying for a mural grant and selecting an artist.
They juried over 180 nationally acclaimed mural artists before
selecting one!
Adden Joule (AJ) Davis of Denver, Colorado was awarded the
project. His painting techniques focus on realism and graphic
surrealism, often paired with abstract geometric elements that
aid in balancing compositions. Creating a visually cutting-edge
experience that will engage community members of all ages, AJ
is incorporating Augmented Reality (AR) into the new mural. He
will focus on animating several aspects of the mural, providing
visual movement through the mural that encourages community
members to spend time with the work and engage it actively.
Jill Atchison, Executive Director, TVAL
Formed in 1965 by a group of Loveland artists who organized
small shows to feature their work, the league acquired their
building at 429 N Lincoln Ave in 1960. The building is now the
Lincoln Gallery.
Always evolving, Lincoln Gallery now represents over 55 exhibiting
fine artists and has a basic membership of over 100 members. TVAL
and Lincoln Gallery host two fine art shows and a photography
show. More than 50 workshops and classes are offered throughout
the year, exposing the Loveland community to new mediums,
artists, ideas and new trends in the arts. For over 50 years, TVAL
has sponsored the annual Art in the Park festival, one of the
longest and largest art festivals in the US. Art in the Park is the
second weekend in August at North Lake Park.

REFLECTIONS
The Artspace Loveland Arts Campus is an inspiring example of
urban transformation. A neglected block has become a thriving
hub of creative activity and community development. There
are two unique buildings: Artspace Feed & Grain and Artspace
Loveland Lofts. Artspace Feed & Grain, a historic mill, is being
redeveloped into nine units of studio, one-, and two-bedroom
artist housing within the Lis & Earl Sethre Residential Wing,
and 5,000 sq. ft. of community space within the Barry Floyd
Studio Wing, made possible by donors Teresa & Paul Mueller.
Artspace Loveland Lofts, completed in 2015, provides 30 units of
affordable live/work space for artists and creatives. These spaces
are designed to foster a sense of community and collaboration,
with shared workspaces and amenities that encourage residents
to connect with one another. It’s a place where art and creativity
are celebrated, and where individuals and families can live and
work in a supportive, inspiring environment.
