WELCOME TO NOCO - KNOWN FOR THE ARTS!
Northern Colorado is a Mecca for the arts and the senses! See
bronze sculptures cast at foundries, hear great performers at
music festivals, feel moved at plays, musicals, and operas!
Here are some of the things for which this area is renowned:
ART
Loveland is considered one of the best art towns in America
- number two behind Santa Fe! In John Villani ’s book “The
100 Best Art Towns in America,” he cites the world-renowned
sculpture shows, respected bronze foundries, and unique public
arts programs as factors in his decision. Artists come from all
over to have their sculptures cast at foundries in Loveland,
and artists in all mediums display their work at fine galleries
throughout Loveland.
ARCHITECTURE
Preserving historic buildings is important for leaving a legacy
for future generations. Loveland is known for the remarkable
restoration of the Loveland Feed and Grain Building, which
now provides affordable housing for artists, and Berthoud’s
1918 granary now is home to an amazing antique and gift store,
The Rancher’s Wife, that features made in Colorado products.
CULINARY ARTS
Northern Colorado features foods of all kinds - from farm-to-
table to French, Sushi to Tex-Mex, burgers to brews! There’s
even a Pizza Museum in Fort Collins!
MUSIC
Fort Collins is a GREAT town for music and music festivals!
FoCoMX features acts from Northern Colorado while Taste of
Fort Collins brings in local and national acts. A diverse lineup
of festivals celebrates the love of live music and local culture.
THEATER
A restored performance theater is a jewel in the crown of
downtown Loveland! Built in 1920 as a silent movie theater,
the historic Rialto Theater was saved by a grassroots citizens
effort and lovingly restored. A stunning place to hear concerts,
bands, or an opera, watch a film, or laugh at a comedian. See
more on page 11.
POETRY
There’s an exciting poetry and writing scene, and Loveland
has its own Loveland Poet Laureate! Read more on page 17.
DANCE
Move it! Take lessons or watch everything from belly dancing
to ballet, aerial to Irish dancers, Hula to Salsa.
Editor, Mary Bahus-Meyer
Established in 1937 by local author, collector, curator, and
mountain guide, Harold Dunning, the Museum has evolved
over 80 years into a world-class art and history museum. It is
one of the only museums in Northern Colorado accredited by
the American Alliance of Museums. A place to learn, grow,
interact, and explore, it is a cherished destination for the local
community and visitors alike.
The Loveland Museum provides a combination of history and art
exhibits that help establish Loveland’s reputation as a thriving arts
community. The Museum features artwork by local and national
artists. Classes and workshops for kids and adults are offered in
many mediums of art at The Beet Education Center, including
printmaking workshops at the new Print Shop, both located next
door to the Museum. For more information about upcoming
events, classes and exhibits, visit TheLovelandMuseum.org.
